Work should always ALWAYS find a way to be fun. For three days this past week, I spent time in McDowell, Virginia, one of the darkest places in the state in the middle of the mountains, with two fantastic people. While we had a work goal in mind (see the epic pic at the bottom of this post), we spent our time away from civilization enjoying the sites to be seen in just the mile radius of the Airbnb where we stayed. Staying in the mountains was amazing – and the only place that we could’ve gone for the epic photos that ensued.
Being completely unplugged (except for the neighbors wifi that helped us out when we had to get ahold of our model) was bizarrely freeing. We walked down rivers, explored a nearby historic church, walked across the scariest but most awesome suspension bridge ever. I didn’t have access to email, I couldn’t obsessively look up celebrity facts on iMDB, and it was amazing.
We were there to do an epic shoot for ISO:ALT – and when I tell you that the images are INCREDIBLE – I don’t even think that word is good enough. It was worth everything. I can’t wait to share them with you. For now, here’s just a few that I took on our adventures during the day until the stars came out at night.
Oh, and this happened. I can’t wait to share the rest of the fantastic pics with you.
Photo cred: Dragon Studio, gown from Jeilyne Santana, and hair and makeup by Behind the Veil. That awesome model drove almost two hours to us from Charlottesville – her name is Jennifer Linke and she’s incredible.
