This year, I’m fortunate enough to be serving on the ILEA Hampton Roads Board of Directors again – as the Vice President of Communication. Caitlin Gerres of Caitlin Gerres Photography is going to be working with me as the Director of Communication, and we had our first pow-wow today.
A few fun facts about Caitlin:
She had a crush on her husband, Ryan, in junior high school.
In spite of her love for Jane Austen, it was actually Ryan’s idea to name her son Darcy.
She has the hiccups at least once a day.
One of the beautiful things about working in this industry, and with other small business owners, is the immense understanding that we’ve got families. Caitlin came over with her precious baby boy, Darcy, and he was one of the sweetest little kids I’ve ever met. We chatted about goals for the 2017-2018 year, made a game plan, talked about our fantastic committee, and more, all while working and navigating teaching my daughter, Wren, how to share, and making sure that Darcy didn’t crawl away. It’s important that we all remember that business owners have a face behind their names – a family, a true story. Darcy and Ryan are part of the story of Caitlin Gerres Photography, and I have so enjoyed getting to know her more through ILEA and more.
ILEA (International Live Events Association) Hampton Roads, for those that don’t know, is a fantastic networking and education group aimed towards furthering the industry among all event professionals. ILEA spans beyond just our region, and is truly an international organization that showcases some of the best industry leaders all over the world. Interested in learning more?
