There are some businesses you visit once and immediately understand why people love them.
Cure Coffeehouse has been one of those places for us.
A few of us from the Misty Saves the Day team recently made our way to the new Cure Coffeehouse location in Downtown Suffolk, and, well… we stayed awhile. Between the coffee, the food, the pastries, and the atmosphere, it was pretty easy to see why Cure has built such a loyal following.
And now, Suffolk gets to be part of the Cure family. 
A new coffee shop in the heart of Downtown Suffolk:
Cure Coffeehouse recently opened its newest location in the charming heart of Downtown Suffolk, joining a wonderful mix of local businesses and neighbors.
If you haven’t been yet, Cure is more than a place to grab a quick cup of coffee.
It’s a craft coffee shop, scratch bakery, all-day breakfast and lunch cafe, tea shop, and catering spot all rolled into one.
Basically, you can come for coffee and somehow end up staying for breakfast, lunch, a pastry… and another coffee.
We wouldn’t judge.
It’s coffee worth slowing down for.
Cure exclusively serves Counter Culture Coffee, a Durham, North Carolina-based coffee company known for its commitment to quality and education.
And Cure takes that education seriously.
Their baristas are trained through Counter Culture’s Counter Intelligence Education Program. For the coffee people out there, you’ll appreciate that. For everyone else? Just know your latte is in good hands.
Come for the coffee. Stay for the food.
At all Cure locations the kitchens may be petite, but you’d never know it from the menu.
The team makes as much as possible from scratch, right on-site, including their famed house-smoked pastrami and jams.
Their all-day breakfast and lunch menu gives you plenty of reasons to settle in, whether you’re meeting a friend, grabbing a bite between errands, or looking for somewhere to spend a slower weekend morning.
And then there’s brunch.
Cure’s Saturday and Sunday brunches have become something of a weekend tradition, and it’s easy to understand why. It’s the kind of place where “let’s just grab coffee” can quickly turn into “should we get another pastry for the table?”
Again… no judgment.
Did we mention that there are pastries?
We can’t talk about Cure without talking about the pastry program. Over the past few years, it’s grown into a major part of what makes Cure special, with some pastries developing what can only be described as a cult following.
Items like: Portuguese egg tarts, giant cinnamon rolls, macarons and more. Everything is made fresh in-house daily, so there’s a pretty good chance you’ll see something coming out of the kitchen that makes you rethink your original plan to “just get coffee.”
We’ve been there.
We learned that they are more than a coffee shop, and this is where we know a business gets interesting.
Cure talks about a coffee shop as a place where relationships are built, friendships flourish, and creativity can thrive. And when we visited the new Suffolk location, that idea carried over into their new location.
It didn’t feel like a place designed solely to get people in, get them their coffee, and get them out. It felt like a place you could actually spend time, bring a friend and meet someone for a conversation. You could work for a little while or catch up with family.
Or just sit with a really good cup of coffee and enjoy where you are. 
This sense of community doesn’t happen by accident, either. Cure puts an emphasis on creating a positive and enjoyable working environment for its staff, with the belief that when employees enjoy where they work, that energy carries over to the customer experience.
And we think that’s worth paying attention to.
Because, just like we’ve said many times here at Misty Saves the Day, people connect with people.
The people behind a business matter. The way a business makes you feel matters. And the little details that make you want to come back matter.
