It’s not easy to do things for yourself. In life in general, but certainly in business. It’s easy to say that you get to have control over things, but the downside is that you have SUCH control that you can’t let go of it. Let me give you an example: I am AWFUL at my own social media. I have an idea of what I WANT it to be, and I know what I should be doing, but I overanalyze everything. There is also the fact that I can’t style anything for myself. It’s not always easy doing things for yourself.
Want content? I’m happy to figure out an epic shoot for you. When it’s for me, though, I overthink everything. The last shoot that I did for myself (well, ISO:ALT) was over a year ago, and was all about the Milky Way. I needed help stying it because I was so excited about it that I couldn’t see the forest for the trees.
Elixir Media Co. & Stellar Exposures came to my house last week to style some content for me. It was pretty amazing, and I can’t wait to share the images. Doesn’t Elixir do the same thing that I do? Sure does. But we do it differently. We work together. Beyond that? We do fun Facebook Lives together, like the last one that we did talking about what to do when you’re in a creative rut (which I haven’t been shy about sharing the fact that I have been in one). Be sure to check it out on Facebook when you get a chance.
Networking is done in all different ways. Part of why I do what I do with the people that I do it with is to encourage networking. Want to learn more about what that means? Come to an ISO:EDU Academy class on August 6th from 7pm-9pm.
What’s the point?
I know it might seem crazy to be so vulnerable about business things, but there’s a point to all of this: it’s easier to do things for others than it is to do for yourself. Don’t get me wrong, it’s okay to have an idea of what you want things to be. It’s also okay to let others help you execute your vision. It’s why I have the job that I do: I’m here with my expertise in social media and styling to help you portray your business in the best way possible. Part of having help means letting go. Let go of the things that you don’t want to do, don’t need to do, don’t want to stress out about. Have someone like me do them for you. Let my social media expertise or my styling skills create content for you.
Know when to ask for help. There’s no shame in that game: it’s why there are people out there to help you. Not sure how I can help? Be sure to check out my services page to see what I can do to make your life easier.
