Getting Healthy

This isn’t a sales pitch.  I’m not using any of the diet things that you’re seeing everywhere.  It’s great that they exist out there, but they aren’t working for me.

I’m writing to tell you when you see me, to keep me accountable.

This was me at our wedding, almost 9 years ago:

Obviously none of us look like we did at 21.  But here’s me at 23, about 10 pounds heavier:

And then 26, post Piper (about 10 pounds heavier than 23):

And now, 29, post Wren (about 10 pounds heavier than before):

I’ll be 30 in 2 months.  On September 15.  I’m not having a quarter life crisis or anything of that nature, but I’m facing reality about the fact that I’m getting older.  I want to see my kids walk with their dad down the aisle.  I want to be at their high school graduation.  I’ve also gained 30 pounds in 9 years, and that’s not okay.  Sure, I had two kids in between there, but I actually weighed LESS after Wren than I did before, and I let myself gain the weight back.

I need to get healthier.  I eat like a 12-year-old.  Truth be told, I had a Coke for breakfast.

One of my good friends told me about My Fitness Pal and he lost something like 40 pounds, and I had attempted it before, but not with this much resolve.  Guys, 1200 calories a day.  1200.  If I had actually put in the way that I was eating before, I was definitely over 2000.  Another friend mentioned it, and it totally worked for her, too.

Time for me to start.  I’m ready to feel like myself again.  I’ll report back in September.

You can do this!! as some one who has seen the scale go up and down, I can say that meal prepping saves me 99% of the time. Weeks when I don’t meal prep (for what ever reason) end up being weeks when I eat like crap, then feel like crap. They don’t have to be crazy complicated meals, but just having a balanced, healthy option ready to go is a life saver for me.

  2. You are so amazing!!!! You’re beautiful, you’re an incredible mom, and you have the biggest heart..wanting to make sure you’re healthy not just for you but for the girls…will power is SO hard for me when it comes to this so please let me know how it goes!!! ROOTING FOR YOU!!!!!OOXOXOX

It is very hard in the season of life with young children. Now that my youngest is approaching four I find I can more easily carve out some time to get some exercised and make eating better a priority. You can do this as you pretty much do everything you put your mind to. <3 Beautiful family….they are worth it.

p.s. I think you look good in all the pictures but that is just me.
