Families get together so infrequently – especially extended families. In my experience, one of the things that I love about living close to the beach is that I get to photograph them when they do. These Sandbridge vacation family photos were taken for this lovely family that was in town from Pennsylvania. There were siblings. There were moms, dads, kids, grandkids.
It’s weird to me sometimes that we live in a vacation town. Virginia Beach has always been my home. It brings me so much joy and happiness to see what the beach does for others. I recently started (attempting) to surf again, and it’s meant a lot. The day we did these photos was the start of a wave (or lack there-of) of no waves. But getting to go out here, and see people like this – still gives you that same warm and fuzzy feeling.
It’s more than that, though. I became a photographer because I wanted to capture people’s families. My family never had family photos growing up. I have snapshots and memories, but nothing like this.
At the end of their session, the kids and grandkids and grandparents played on the playground. If we’re being honest – a lot of those photos are my favorite from the session. They all kind of forgot I was there – and that made those photos even better.
If you’re a family on the hunt for Sandbridge vacation family photos- send me a message. Let’s see if we can fit you into the calendar. I’m willing to bet it means just as much to me as it does to you.
