I feel like I have been walking down memory lane lately. I have had the chance to get so many of my fan favorites in front of my camera, and it is AWESOME. A blog earlier this month was all about my incredible cousin, who I literally watched grow up into a rockstar young woman. This post is about celebrating Sara, a high-school friend turned spin class partner. Doing maternity photography – for a super awesome friend – in the waves of Virginia Beach feels like a new requirement for my life. You know its good when you choose the first image of the gallery to be the feature picture for the blog.
That’s when you know you’ve struck gold.
The Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge in Virginia Beach was the perfect mixture of east coast jungle and sandy beaches. When the sun started to set, the sky looked as though the bottom had caught fire and the top was naively unaware. Amongst that chaos was the silhouette of a powerful woman. (Sara, I have watched you spin – I know just how strong you are!) But this felt different. The last picture in this post was beautiful in a way that felt familiar and unique. Your black bikini, peek-a-boo tattoos, the way you cradled your belly, and the exact way the waves crashed into you were small representations of how this pregnancy is being made entirely distinctive by you…by the ways that you are incredibly you.
I cannot wait to meet this sweet babe and to experience the ways in which you will parent. Of all the words to categorize a friendship, I am happy to call ours super good.
If you know me, you know that is high praise.
If you’ve got an awesome baby bump and want to rock a killer bathing suit – and even if you don’t! – reach out! Having the chance to do a little maternity photography in Virginia Beach felt like an actual treat. I love a good treat. Don’t you?!
