Laurie Dierstein of REBOOT

Laurie Dierstein, owner of REBOOT in Virginia Beach, was a dream to photograph. I loved that we mixed both her professional and personal life by photographing at her office and her home. We also tossed in a few pictures at Back Bay Wildlife Refuge (because you know I’m obsessed).  She is actively renovating her home with her husband and the messiness of it made me so incredibly happy.  There is something delicate in the patched walls and industrial lights.  Maybe it was the gorgeous triplet windows that peek into a yard made for memories.  Maybe it was Laurie’s smile.

Either way, I’m here for it.

Laurie is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with her certification in behavioral medicine from Boston University.  At REBOOT, she works with clients to help them manage their mental health needs with a focus on more natural solutions, such as nutrition, exercise, sleep, and self-care.   She values the way that each of these areas impact our overall well-being.  Her recommendations are meant to be simple and practical.  Honestly, those attributes shine through as soon as you meet her.  She is simple in a way that is comforting and meaningful.  You don’t get complicated from her, because that just isn’t who she is.  She likes time with her family, soaking up sunshine on the beach, creating delicious meals, and helping others.  Simple but powerful.  In a world that can feel overwhelmingly complex, I’m sure her approach offers such a warm security.  In summarizing the work she does with her clients, she says it best:

“My belief is that by providing clients with tools to enhance their skills, they can ultimately learn to self-manage many of their own symptoms.”

We spent almost two hours together for this shoot and were able to snag pictures at three different locations:  REBOOT, her personal home, and Back Bay Wildlife Refuge.  The benefit of this is that we got a wide range of unique images that can be used across a variety of content.  This content offers Laurie the chance to share any part of her life – whether business or personal – while also capturing this particular time in her life.  The more time you can dedicate to your session, the greater the variety.  Bring a few outfits.  Make sure the car has a full tank of gas.  Let’s get creative so that we make the most of your photographs!  Unsure of how to accomplish this?  Don’t worry.  I’m a bit of pro.
