Diane Dickerson is one hell of a woman. Many professionals that work in the wedding or event industry already know her through her work with Incredible Edibles. I have had multiple chances to work with her professionally, including a Cavalier inspired wedding photo shoot that was showcased in Coastal Virginia Bride. This time, however, was purely for fun.
Family fun, to be exact.
It’s no secret that I love the colorful artwork of the ViBe District in Virginia Beach. It feels like a place that I can authentically draw creativity from and contribute creativity to. If the ViBe District is my type of place, then the Dickersons are my type of folks. They showed up in a few pairs of Vans Old Skool shoes, an adorable puppy in tow, and personalities that don’t need permission to shine. Some of my favorite family photo shoots are the ones where kids get to be kids and laughing out loud is encouraged. There is a place for posed photography. Absolutely! But life is fluid, awkward, confident, beautiful, and silly. Families are, too.
Especially the Dickersons.
Diane, thank you for letting me showcase both your professional and your private selves. It is such proof that my job is freaking incredible. What begins as a professional connection turns into so much more. It turns into belly rubs, family photos, and lots – I mean LOTS – of love.
Super fun fact: Diane is originally from Germany!
I promise to wear mine, too!
