4 Years of Misty Saves the Day {Business Anniversary}

It’s crazy to me how far Misty Saves the Day has come in the last 4 years. When I started, it was me, Wrenny Penny, a computer in my living room and lots of hopes and dreams. We just did Facebook & Instagram for our clients, and maybe had 4 to start. Today I’m celebrating 4 years of being in business and the most important thing? On this business anniversary, I’m celebrating growth.

In 4 years, we’ve gone from just running people’s Facebook & Instagram accounts to having 4 employees, adding a photography component for content creation, blogging and submissions, and workflows for days to make things profitable and more importantly, manageable with regards to time and attention to detail with our clients. I’ve gotten to second shoot a silly amount of weddings on top of it, which has been so awesome. Growth doesn’t just come in the form of business and services, though.

Growth means learning more about work/life balance. Finding time to do the things that you love, and spending more time doing those so that when you’re working, you truly love what you do. Growth means not harboring resentment when you have to work instead of do something fun with friends and family – and making the time spent with your friends and family count. You know what else growth means? It’s meant truly, honestly, finding a way to live a life that I love.

One of the reasons that I started Misty Saves the Day was to spend more time with my family. I wish I could honestly say that I do that – I don’t. The girls are both in school, I’m gone a lot of nights and weekends, but it’s been my goal to make the time that we’re together count. I’ve also done things to make sure that I’m taking time to myself. Growth means taking time to treat yo’self, taking time to workout and take care of myself, taking time to work on my own personal development so that I can be better professionally.

4 years isn’t that long, but when I look back, it seems like ages ago that I went to the courthouse (with Wrenny Penny in her car seat) and got my business license. I’m excited for the future. I’m excited that Misty Saves the Day has been (and continues to be) received with such awesome support and excitement from clients, friends, family, and the community that we’re part of. I honestly couldn’t be more thankful for that support that’s afforded me the ability to be my own boss.
