Things We’re Nostalgic: Making Social Media Fun Again

There was a time — not that long ago — when social media felt… simpler. Before the grid was perfectly curated. Before every post had a strategy. Before every caption felt like it had to mean something important.

Yes we tell stories for a living for our clients which are important! But at the same time we’re nostalgic for the days when someone posted a blurry photo of their coffee and we were genuinely excited about it. When your friend checked in at a random restaurant and you thought, “Ooooh, that looks good.” When the highlight of your scroll was a panda sneezing or a cat dramatically falling off a couch.

Remember when social media wasn’t a news source?

When it wasn’t a debate stage?
When it wasn’t quite so… heavy?

It felt light.
It felt human.
It felt like people were just being themselves.

And yes — we know the internet has grown up. The world has gotten louder. Things feel more serious now, and for good reason. Social media isn’t always the happiest place to be these days.

But here’s what we believe:

Even when things feel tough, there’s still room for light.

That’s part of our job.

We work in social media. We live here. And while we can’t rewind the clock to 2012, we can choose the energy we bring into the space. We can choose to show up as a positive presence. We can choose to highlight the good. We can choose to create content that feels human again.

So this is us saying: we’re bringing back a little joy.

More cute cat videos.
More celebrating small wins.
More spotlighting the local coffee shop you love.
More ways to support your community and small businesses doing amazing things.
More posts that make you smile instead of sigh.

Because yes, social media is powerful.
But it can also be fun.

And maybe — just maybe — if enough of us lean into that, it can start to feel a little lighter again.

This is the first in a series of things we’re nostalgic for.

Not because we want to live in the past — but because sometimes remembering what felt good helps us build something better now.

Stay tuned. And if you happen to see a panda sneeze video today… send it our way.
