I pinch myself all the time (not really, but you know what I mean) that I get to be a ViBe small business photographer. Doing stuff in the ViBe District in Virginia Beach is always a blast – and Creative Mornings every month is one of those things that I always look forward to. Creative Mornings gives me and the team an opportunity to learn from so many community leaders, business owners and more – but also an opportunity to get to know them. Because I get to photograph Creative Mornings, I get about 5-10 minutes with the speakers, and they’re always SO nice. That was definitely the case with Kip Poole of Yorkie’s Modern Deli in Virginia Beach.
Our team already knows and loves Yorkie’s. The sandwiches are delicious. The atmosphere is great. Yorkies’ employees know all about great hospitality and you can tell from the minute you walk in the door. It was that way talking to Kip and taking his photos. He found out that we were going to Philadelphia right after the meeting, and jumped at the opportunity to give me his number so that we could ask all the questions about great places to eat – and he totally delivered there, too.
This is the stuff that I love about Creative Mornings. You meet people and you REALLY connect. It’s not just about business – it’s about building relationships, and that’s what real networking and learning together should look like. It’s not just “what do you do?” Connecting with people is getting to see how you can help each other. Food recommendations might seem small, but for me? It’s a great one.
