I don’t know what I did to deserve so many great newborns this year, but man, I’ve lucked out. Being a Norfolk newborn photographer (can I call myself that now?) means that I get to go adventure to people’s homes and see their new lives in their element. Hanging out with this wonderful family was nothing short of great – and not just because they had cats. Having your first baby is so special (well, having any baby is special). There’s something about that transition from being a couple to being parents. Fortunately for these guys, they had a grandma there to help them out, too. And two adorable cats – which you know I’m going to be excited about (and was).
The way that I look at newborn sessions is that it should feel like life ACTUALLY was. You should be in your space, with your people, as comfortable as you can be. Of course it doesn’t always work like that, and I’ve enjoyed doing newborn sessions in studio, too. I stick with the lifestyle vibes each time, though. Posing newborns can be tough and photographers that do that are typically professionally trained to do that for the baby’s safety. I am not one of those photographers, so if you ask me to dress your baby up and put it in a basket, I would be SO happy to refer you to one that is.
