I’ve had the opportunity to visit the Foodbank of Southeastern VA a few times over the past six months. They are an incredible organization with an inspiring mission- to eliminate hunger in our community. As their website states, “the Foodbank has distributed over 360 million pounds of food equating to over 300 million meals”. The Foodbank of Southeastern VA services Norfolk, Portsmouth, Chesapeake, Suffolk, Franklin, Virginia Beach, Southampton, Northampton, Sussex, Isle of Wright and Accomack. That is huge. Their positive impact on our community is profound and I am thankful to know them.
Here at Misty Saves the Day we currently work on their Facebook, Instagram & LinkedIn. I was really excited to get some new photos for their social media channels. I love the shots of their team members in action, because the pictures show just how passionate all the members are about feeding the community.
The Foodbank of Southeastern VA has done an incredible job with its response to Covid-19. Unfortunately, the pandemic has greatly increased the number of local residents experiencing food insecurity. So many people across the region are now out of work and in need of assistance. The Foodbank has been an huge source of security for local families. Something really amazing that they’ve been working on is their Summer Food Service Program. They’ve set up meal sites within local neighborhoods. Children ages 5-18 can walk or bike to collect a free and nutritious meal. Social distancing is encouraged.
If you’d like to make a contribution to the Foodbank, it would be hugely appreciated. For every $10 donated, the Foodbank is able to distribute up to $60 worth of grocery products which is really incredible. Check out the pictures, read all about the amazing things they’ve been up to, and let me know what you think!
**All of these photos were taken pre-pandemic.**
