I don’t usually work between Christmas and New Years. I honestly usually don’t work the entire time the kids are out of school for winter break. This year, I made an exception for these First Landing State Park family photos, referred to me by the wonderful Chris Lane that I get to work with at Creative Mornings every month. I knew if Chris sent them my way, they were amazing people. My hunch was right.
Kerryanne and her husband were in town for the holiday, so we did this shoot right after Christmas. Kerryanne and her brother, Jacob, gifted this session as a gift to their parents. Their entire family are outdoors-y people. Kerryanne is a marine biologist. Her husband is a park ranger. Her parents moved here with the military 14 years ago and when her dad retired – they decided Virginia Beach was the place for them. I get it. It’s the place for me and my family, too. First Landing State Park is one of my favorite places in the area, too, so I was pumped that I’d get to spend some time there with them over break.
Choosing a Location
First Landing State Park family photos might not be for you if you aren’t into nature – especially in the summer when it’s hot. When you’re choosing a location for your family photos, you’ve really got to think about what’s true to you and your family. Thankfully – these guys knew exactly what they wanted. I even went a couple of hours early to walk in the woods with my husband. When you find the right people for you, you know it, and the Litzenberg family was the perfect way to end 2025 for Misty Saves the Day.
Thinking of booking a family session?
There’s never a bad season for it in Virginia Beach. Family sessions can be great if you know where to go, what to wear, and to embrace whatever the weather is. If you want to book something or chat – send me a message. I’d love to talk! 2026 is sure to have a lot of great families, and I’d love for you to be one of them.
