When Adam reached out for me to photograph his proposal to Zoe, I was pumped. He wanted to do it at the Historic Cavalier Hotel – and everyone knows that a Cavalier Hotel proposal is beautiful. If you’re from Virginia Beach (and Zoe and I both are), then you know the iconic Cavalier Hotel. Zoe moved to Costa Rica with her family a few years ago and met Adam. They were coming home to see where Zoe grew up, and Adam thought it would be a great idea to propose to her at the place she used to call home. It was even better because her family and friends surprised her by being there when it all happened. If you can’t tell – it was a surprise to the grandparents, who were so happy and excited to be there.
This is why I’m a photographer. It’s about these moments. You want photos of things that you want to remember forever, and I’m positive for both Adam and Zoe that this will be one of those. It was a privilege to get to be there and capture this for them. After their proposal, we had the opportunity to do photos with their friends and family – and then portraits of the two of them on the property. I get asked to take photos at the Cavalier pretty often, but they’ve got strict rules about photography – and should! Adam coordinated his proposal and reserved space for this to happen to make sure that we could be there.
“But Misty, isn’t this a page for a social media agency?”
Yeah, it is. But at the end of the day, I started this company to give people a work/life balance. I wanted Misty Saves the Day to be about the little moments that you lose when you start a business. When I get to use my time and talents to help wonderful people like Adam and Zoe and capture moments like this – I’m doing what I love. Photography was never originally part of this company, but I’m so thankful that it is now. That means you’ll see family photos on this page. You’ll see proposals and anniversaries and moments. I want Misty Saves the Day to be just as much about what life is when we are and aren’t working as business owners. I think it works for us – and our clients do, too.
