Mike Dragon had been wanting to do an eco-friendly shoot for as long as I remember. He literally took the idea of “green” and made everything involved in this shoot completely green. The flowers from Roost were locally sourced, the plates were bamboo and biodegradable, the glassware were made from recycled wine bottles. To take it a step further, the gown was created by an amazing designer right here in Hampton Roads, Jeilyne Santana, and hand-beaded by her. The jewelry was all conflict-free from Either Ore Jewelers Strawbridge.
This shoot was designed for the purpose of marketing for Joyful Send-Off, an amazing campaign designed to showcase alternatives to balloon releases. Mike & I have had the privilege of working with them over the course of the last few months on creating their marketing material and getting the word out about their mission. Can you believe that the tropical house at Norfolk Botanical Garden was our rain plan? It turned out far more beautiful than I could’ve pictured it. Seriously one of the most beautiful shoots that I’ve had the pleasure to be part of.
