Last post, I talked about getting my own family in front of the camera – in front of my camera. My Instagram is full of pictures of my motley crew of three: Christopher, Piper, and Wren. They are my muses in a million different ways on a million different days…but that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy having the chance to photograph other family. My cousin, Carol Ann, is an absolute gem. So, when I had the chance to do her senior portraits at the Vibe District in Virginia Beach, I was stoked. Y’all already know that the colors in the Vibe District are some of my favorite, but Carol Ann outshined all of them.
Every single one of them.
I have known Carol Ann her entire life. Not in that we-are-family-so-we-“know”-each-other kind of way. I know her because I lived with her when she was just a baby and nannied her while I was in college. When I say I know, I freaking know. Of all the things I know, here are some of my favorites:
- she can make more faces than a hundred people
- her dance moves should be shared with the world
- she should be a black-belt (scroll down to check out her awesome ninja kicks)
- the Class of 2022 wouldn’t be near as cool without her
- I can’t imagine how many rad adventures she will have because she is greater than the scope of my imagination – exactly as she should be
Thank you to Carol Ann and her family for making the trip east from Illinois so that I could capture these images. You crossed a time zone, bridges, and over 13 hours of roads to see me. I’m adding this experience to the many memories I have of you.
Cheers to many more!
Long gone are the days of standardized senior portraits in front of a dark backdrop. (Good riddance!) Show off who you really are, and give the world a taste of what’s coming for it. Don’t wait too late to schedule those senior portraits – I am filling up! Reach out so that we can schedule a time for you to hop in front of my camera. All karate moves and dance routines encouraged. Want to do your senior portraits at the Vibe District but worry they won’t be original?
Don’t worry – there is enough color and creativity to spread around.
