Hux Family Session {First Landing State Park}

I have photographed the Hux family THREE times this year!  This gallery – taken at First Landing State Park – was the most recent session.  Throughout this year, I have taken maternity portraits, newborn pictures, and have now gotten the whole family of four in front of my camera.  When I go through those images, it is so powerful to actually see how this family has grown in size and love this year.

And now for your friendly PSA regarding updated family pictures.

Freaking do them.  Seriously.  Even if it isn’t in front of a photographer at a state park.  It can be taken on your phone and in front of your house.  (But it only counts if Mom is in the picture, too!)  Maybe you snagged a selfie on the couch after an awesome evening of PJs and movies.  It doesn’t have to be formal.  While there is something to be said for having a professional help you capture moments in your family’s life, I really just want you to get in the habit of taking pictures.

Some of you just finished spending the holidays with some of your closest friends and families (friends are 1000% family – see my recent Insta post for proof). Think on those people, especially the ones that you can’t imagine living without.  Those are the faces that you’ll want to remember.

More importantly, those are the faces you’ll want to share with future loved ones.

Behind those faces are experiences and adventures that contribute to your overall life.  They deserve documentation so that they can be reflected on for years and decades to come.  Even if something feels small, grab a picture.  Aren’t our lives made up of millions of small moments, anyway??

If you are the type of person that enjoys making New Year’s Resolutions and you are struggling to come up with one for 2022, I have a recommendation:  Document.  Take the pictures and make sure you are in the them.  Every single picture doesn’t have to be Instagram worthy.  It’s not about taking the images for social media.  It’s about you and the memories you want to preserve.  I promise you will never regret having “too many” pictures.

To the gorgeous Hux family:  thank you for letting me watch your sweet little family grow.  I look forward to many more moments with you.
